Ah… Buying iPhone apps on iTunes is like Pringles. After my virgin purchase of the QuadCam app, today I was introduced to the CameraBag app through Brennan’s blog entry of his favourite iPhone Apps! Yup, another US$2.99 gone…

Don’t you think the effect of the photos look very much like a real Polaroid? I love this shot which I took accidentally with my friend in it! It has this “totally random” feeling which I saw in some of my parents’ polariod photos taken in the 70s!

I am so glad that I’ve got to know this group of plurkers who are interested in photography! This time Darran and I organised an impromptu photo outing on Plurk again which we termed it as the “Aimless Shoot Out”!

Why aimless? Seriously, we did not have anything in mind. We just felt like taking photos of the things around us. The only set location was Funan centre, the starting point of the outing and there was one big problem – We have no predetermined targets!

Turn left or turn right? Walk straight? Boat Quay or Clarke Quay? How about the Civic District?

So we decided to just walk toward the Civic District, moved through Raffles Place, walked towards Clarke Quay from Boat Quay… and the ending point was the Esplanade!

Each of us were armed with different types of camera, ranging from iPhone to DSLR. Hendri even brought his FSLR! I am still waiting to see his photos

I have been so tempted to get a DSLR after seeing all the nice shots taken by Kel, Claudia and Darran. Of course, apart from having a good camera, one has to have good skills too. I’ve been using this Sony Cybershot H7 (a semi-pro) since Sep 2007 and my shots have been turning out pretty well. This is why I am tempted to get a better camera, but looking at the price tag and the thought of opening this flood gate, it is very likely that I will continue to use this camera for sometime.

To fill my activity-less day, I went out to City Hall and Bugis Area to do my shopping and I brought along my camera to fill some time. Here are my favorite shots of the day!

Finally, I’ve got to visit the the last kampong of Singapore before it is being gobbled up by bulldozers. If Claudia didn’t join us, I guess we wouldn’t been able to make it there as none of us know its actual location. The kampong is totally out of sight from civilisation and it took us awhile to get into the place. It nearly felt like a trekking trip than a photo outing!

Most of the houses are vacant but the strange thing is there are two houses that seemed to be newly built! The place really has a rustic charm and no where else in Singapore that you can compare with it. We had fun taking photos around the place and at each other!

I personally feel that it is a pity to tear it down. I mean we do have a lot of undeveloped land in Singapore at the moment and we could just spare this place. In fact, I would say that it makes a good National Education site for Kids to learn more about Kampong Life.

The thought of this photo shoot was triggered by the article published on New York Times. The discussion started when Darran was sharing his photos from our Marina Barrage photo outing on Plurk and I suggested having a shoot at Kampong Buangkok. Soon we have Clauds, Dorothy, Qiquan and Claudia who are keen to join us for this photo outing. This photo outing is really fun and I really enjoyed myself very much! For our next photo outing, we are probably going to Tiong Bahru or Southern Ridges!

For those who are interested to visit Kampong Buangkok, you may want to take 70 from Yio Chu Kang MRT Station and alight at Opposite St. Vincent De Paul Church, Yio Chu Kang Road, 15 stops later, according to GoThere.sg. Though the trip is longer than going from Buangkok MRT station, the road leading into the kampong is in a better condition and comfortable.

Nice view isn’t it? Today is my first outing with Daphne, Darran and Brennan! The weather ain’t too good in the early afternoon and we were wondering if we should postpone this photo outing. Well, like what Brennan said on plurk, “There’ll surely be the sun after the storm!”!

When I was waiting by the station control at Marina Bay MRT station, I was quite surprised by the number of people exiting from the station! Guess everyone was there to visit the Barrage! I only realised how near the MRT station is to One Raffles Quay as we walked out of the station. The shuttle bus brought us to the bus stop near the former bowling centre and BBQ steamboat and we had to walk a distance before we reach the barrage. It was pretty sad to see the bowling centre & BBQ Steamboat area to be left vacant and soon to be torn down, and this is where I had nice memories with my friends.

The place was pretty crowded when we reached. The kids were having fun with the water feature and there were groups of people canoeing. The weather was decent until we stepped into the main building – It started drizzling. Even when the rain stopped, the security did not not allow us to step onto the barrage area since it was still CAT 1, though eventually we did manage to get on it at the later part of our stay there.

I think Marina Barrage will be a nice place to chill out when it is easier to travel there. The sea breeze was great and I believe that it will be a lot quieter during normal days. Here are some pictures taken from the photo outing! Check out more of the pictures on my Facebook album!

We ended off the day with a nice dinner at Thai Accent, VivoCity and I had this yummy Pineapple Rice! Sylvia joined us for dinner too while Darran had to leave for another appointment. Will be seeing them soon at the Bloggers Calendar Launch on Sunday, I guess. The outing was really fun and I hope you guys felt so too!
