Have you heard of the “MP3 Experiment Six” in New York where a group of people follow the audio instructions from an MP3 file? This has inspired us to do something similar in Singapore on 29 May 2010 as part of the World No Tobacco Day commemoration!

Instead of following the audio instructions from an Mp3 file, the Health Promotion Board has partnered MediaCorp Radio 987FM to execute this “Great Audio Experience” through… Yup, pretty obvious…. The Radio!

On 29 May 2010, all participants and celebrity guests will tune in to 987FM at 4.30pm and follow the audio instructions from 987FM DJ Mister Young! We will be involved in a series of fun activities to live it up without lighting up – in a moving flash mob that will end up at Plaza Singapura.

This mass activation will start at the following 3 locations along the Orchard Shopping Belt:

• The Heeren Shops
• Orchard Central
• SMU Green

Through Nicole, I was given a sneak peak of this upcoming exhibition at Asian Civilisations Museum – “Treasury of the World” featuring gem stones and other precious objects from The al-Sabah Collection in Kuwait . Early birds like me and DK were invited to put on the outfits and we were brought through some of the exhibition highlights.

Who are the Mughals? If you are as ignorant as me, the legendary Mughal Empire is one of the wealthiest and most powerful dynasties the world has ever known! One of the significant architecture piece of the Mughals is the Taj Mahal, which was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Rings a bell, eh?

For over 300 years (1526-1858), the Mughals dominated the Indian subcontinent and were renowned for their lavish lifestyle, love of beauty and vast collection of precious objects.

In this exhibition, you will get to see the stunning collection of more than 400 exquisite, jewelled works of art – from household items to ornate necklaces and ceremonial swords – from the glorious era of Mughal-ruled India. This blockbuster exhibition has been shown in prestigious venues such as the British Museum in London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Louvre Museum in Paris. It makes its Asian debut at the Asian Civilisations Museum in Singapore.

Was happy to see DK, Hisham, Jayden, Mus, Diana and Eevon at our event and glad to meet William for the first time! Friends like Claudia, Nadia, Jacelyn and Lawrence did not managed to make it for our event due to personal commitments and Nicole was not feeling well that day.

Starring Lawrence and Evelyn Maria, August 29 is a heart-wrenching love story about a girl who is dying of AIDS and how she chooses to spend her last days with her ex-boyfriend, a photographer.

My colleague, Janice then shared the objective of the blogger engagement event and programme lined up to commemorate World AIDS Day 2009. This might sound cliché to you but we really hope to create more awareness about HIV/AIDS through the power of our blogger friends.

Last Friday, Nadia brought me along for a Sony Event and had the chance to meet and interact with Nanz and her team.

After the closure of the One.99 chain, Nanz wrote a book titled “One Business, 99 lessons” and now she has started her own portal, Nanz Inc, with Theresa Tan, the former Editor of Female magazine, Vanilla magazine and former Editor-In-Chief for ELLE Singapore.

Nanz Inc aims to educate, equip and empower Asian Women to “do life better” and the topics include Business and Style. Nanz shared with us that they are surprised that they have a fair bit of male readers even though it is targeted at the ladies.

They will be having a launch party on this coming Thursday. Sorry Nanz and Theresa. I will be away in Kuala Lumpur to attend a conference. Have a good time ladies

We were also being introduced to a range of the latest series of Sony Vaio. I owned 3 Sony Vaios in my life before I switched to a MacBook Air.

The one that caught my eyes is the Sony Vaio Series X which is FREAKING THIN and LIGHT!!! It’s about a weight of a new booklet of foolscap paper and slightly thicker than my iPhone when it’s closed!

It’s running on Intel Atom Processor (1.86 GHz) and Windows 7, weighs 655 grams and has a 3.5 hours battery life.

And the price tag for this little beauty is a whopping…

SGD $1,999!!!

I would love to own one of this, but too bad I am not rich enough. Bye bye Sony Vaio Series X.

I haven’t been exercising much lately and a single table tennis game from Nintendo Wii Sport Resort with DK had left my right arm aching.

Yeah, I know. Damn loser lah. Really need to hit the gym soon.

The whole group of us went over to the Nintendo Wii Sport Resort Experience Tent at Ngee Ann City after the Flash Mob at Wisma Atria. The waiting time to play the game is about 5 mins. Since Neo and DK were invited to the event, the rest of us just tagged along to play Wii at the media booth and skipped the waiting!

One thing I like about the Wii is it actually workout your body. Definitely great people who want to play video games and yet want some physical activity! But too bad, my home TV is always hogged by my mum and baby niece.

The new accessory to the Wii controller is the Wii MotionPlus which recognises the slightest twist or turn of the controller. The Swordplay game is one game that make use of this new accessory.

Standing Sushi Bar

I love the spontaneous meet ups that we organise via social media! Nadnut was asking online on Monday if anyone is keen to go Standing Sushi Bar for ala carte dinner and a few of us, Fari, Nicole, Justin, Glenn and Sarah and I decided to join her!

And guess what? When we reached Standing Sushi Bar, Nadnut asked if we are keen for Omakase with a budget of $50, instead of having ala carte food. Given that the UOB Credit Card is having a 1 for 1 discount for Omakase until end of October, the bill will be $25, before GST.

The problem was we were in ODD NUMBER! Someone had to sacrifice! Glenn was nice to order ala carte instead.

So with a $50 budget, what did we get? A 7-course dinner, completed with soup and dessert! Chef Roy and Kawa-san made us really good stuff!  The each dish is served only after everyone in the group finished their current dish and hence the food served were very fresh!

First course: Sea Snails

The Seas Snails were very sweet and fresh. My first time trying this! Some of us had a hard time getting the meat out though.

Second course: Assorted Sashimi

My all time favourite! YUMZ!

Third course: Eggplant with Special Sauce

I did not know that this was Eggplant until I checked Nadnut‘s twitpic. I love the way they cooked it!

Fourth course: Deep Fried Tuna on Stick

It has some other filling other than Tuna! I like!

Fifth course: Grilled Hokke

The taste of this Fish was very nice. Lightly salted and it smelled good!

Sixth course: Yakiniku Beef

The Yakiniku Beef tasted okay only. Maybe because we were enjoying the complementary sake and did not eat this fresh enough.

Seventh course: Assorted Sushi

The sushi had very little rice, which is good! By this time, I was pretty full already!

Radish Soup

The radish soup was a nice way to end the dinner.

Dessert: Ice Cream

From what we heard from Sarah, her friend wasn’t allowed to change the flavour of the ice cream and was offered Green Tea flavoured icecream. We were in luck since we have Nadnut with us! We were allowed to choose between 3 different flavours – Citrus, Green Tea and Black Seasame!

I must say that I enjoyed the food very much and the total damage was $29.40 each after the UOB Credit card discount! Damn worth it right? If you are keen to try Omakase and you have a UOB Credit Card, go there during the month of October 2009! If you don’t have an UOB Credit Card, go look for someone who has it.

Oh, did I mention that the owner of Standing Sushi Bar is Howard Lo? He was one of the contestants on “Eye for a Guy” and coincidentally, he is also a Fresh Air Ambassador! Too bad, we did not get to meet him as he was caught up with some stuff on Monday. We will probably get to meet him during our next visit to Standing Sushi Bar, which is on 20 Oct!

The attendees for this coming round of Omakase will be Nadnut, Nicole, Justin, Jacelyn and me! This time Nadnut will be bringing her friend along so we are in even number! Nadnut has requested for Chef Roy and Kawa-san to create a different menu for us the next time we visit!

I am so looking forward to it! YUMZ!
