(Mis)Adventures of @victortan at SGH.

I am now in an isolation ward at SGH due to measles. Here’s a summary of my (mis)adventures for the day:

12pm – Colleagues told me that I have some red rash at my neck area. Not itchy at all. Thought heat rash.

3pm – Rashes started to spread. Got worried. Told my boss that I will be seeing a doc after I settled an email reply.

4pm – Left for polyclinic at level 2 of HPB. How convenient.

4.40pm – Saw the doc. Suspected that I have Dengue Fever. Asked me to visit A&E. Went back to office and brought all my barangs with me, including my laptop and BBOM.

5pm – Reached SGH A&E by foot. Yup, it’s that near.

5.40pm – Saw 3 docs to confirm that it is measles. It’s that rare now.

8pm – Wheelchaired to the isolation ward, while I was tweeting about it on my laptop. I was utterly amused.

8.10pm – Settled in the isolation ward. Requested for dinner.

9.30pm – Reminded nurse about my dinner. I was FREAKING hungry.

9.50pm – Dinner came. Tasted reasonably good!

10.30pm – 2 nurses, 4 pokes for I.V., all FAILED. Reminded me of the medics who attended to me in Tekong.

11pm – Sent for Xray. After 2 Xrays, radiologist apologised. Then I had my 3rd Xray taken. Sent back to isolation ward.

11.30pm – Doc came. Got poked 3 times to draw 3 bottles of blood.

Was told that I can’t leave until I am non-infectious, which will take about 5 days. Wish me luck in a speedy recovery.
