With Zoe Tay and Kenny Ho

I had the privilege to attend the Gala Premiere of “Love Cuts“, a breast cancer awareness movie starring Zoe Tay and Kenny Ho on 31 Aug 2010. It was a star-studded evening where local celebrities like Felicia Chin, Dai Yang Tian and Joi Chua were there to support the Queen of Caldecott Hill!

I shall not be a spoiler here, but I swear this is the first time that I ever cried while watching a movie! I teared for three times in fact! I could hear audiences opening the tissue packs that were provided by the organisers simultaneously at a several scenes. So do remember to bring along a pack of tissue paper when you are catching this movie as tissue packs are not provided during normal screening.

Do you know that early detection of breast cancer can save lives? It is recommended that women above 50 should go for regular mammography. In fact, I would encourage you to get your parents to go for regular health screening if they are above 40 years old. Health screening can help reduce the risk of complications of diseases, and might even save one’s life. If you know me in person long enough, you will know that I have a wallet full of credit cards.

No, I am not someone who loves to spend on credit, but I find it particularly useful when it comes to enjoying privileges when it comes to dining and 0% installment plans when purchasing an uber big ticket item. What’s more, you can also gain points, cash-back or even airline miles.

I’ve been a happy Citibank customer since 2006! To date, I am still very impressed by their customer service. There was once where I was supposed to go overseas on the next day and my Citibank DIVIDEND Card was faulty. A smile lighted up on my face when they told me that they will courier a replacement card to my place on the same day of the faulty card report.

Of the credit cards that I hold, my favourite is still the Citibank DIVIDEND Card. This is my first credit card and I’ve been using it as my primary credit card!

I am one of those people who are lazy to convert my points into shopping vouchers, so the Citibank DIVIDEND Card makes perfect sense for me.

While I am missing out is the 5% cash-back on petrol and additional 14.5% at Esso Petro stations as I don’t drive, I am getting 2% cash-back from the dining places (on top of the spread of Dine-for-free specials, complimentary treats and year-long offers at over 1,000 locations offered by Citibank Gourmet Pleasures) and 0.5% on all other spending which includes my Telco bills.

Singapore Flyer Sky Dining

If you have been following my blog, this isn’t the first time that I’ve gone up on the Singapore Flyer! Last year, I had my virgin visit to the Singapore Flyer and also experienced the F1 qualifying race at the Singapore Flyer.

But never had I tried the Sky Dining at the Singapore Flyer – the World’s First Full-Butler dining in the skies!

SPECIAL SKY DINING CAPSULE

In this special sky dining capsule, which can seat 10 person comfortably, we were served by dedicated butler throughout this Uniquely Singapore dining experience!

WELCOME DRINK: FRESH SUMMER BERRIES IN GINGER ALE

The whole dining experience started off the welcome drink after we were seated comfortably. I always loved Ginger Ale and the addition of the Summer Berries just give it a different twist!

STARTER: MARINATED TUNA SEAWEED FURUKE

The starter was Ahi tuna in Japanese spices laced with kumquat pommery dressing and accompanied with olive honey tomato and daikon cress and the starter went pretty well with the welcome drink!.

STEWED LAMB SHANK VINDALOO

ARCTIC CHAR SALMON ESCALOPES

While there is a choice of either Chicken, Lamb or Fish, no one from this group ordered Chicken as the main course! The main course was served after 1 rotation on the Singapore Flyer and they had to serve the dishes really fast! I the the Arctic Char Salmon Escalopes which tasted quite nice, but I do prefer Ee Von’s choice of Stewed Lamb Shank Vandaloo – I simply love the aroma of the spices!

DESSERT: STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING

Desserts were being served at the VIP Lounge after the second rotation and who can resist desserts, right? Well, you need to have a sweet tooth to really enjoy this

Instead of staying at the air-conditioned VIP Lounge, we went for the alfresco area outside and enjoyed the nice breeze and scenery out there.

I would say this is a must try for tourist who are visiting Singapore and probably a good place for anniversary celebrations for couples – So do consider the Singapore Flyer Sky Dining if you have ran out of ideas to impress your other half!

Eden Sanctuary Floral Cafe

I was invited for a food tasting session at Eden Sanctuary Floral Cafe awhile back and I simply love the food there! Being someone who is picky about quality of food, it’s rather hard to please my taste buds.

Together with other food bloggers like Sparkette and Calvin Timo, we were presented with a 5-course dinner with the Colours Theme!

I loved every single dish I ate that evening, but my personal favourite was the “Prawns with Edamame Peas Green Pasta”! The prawns were very fresh and crunchy, while the pasta was cooked just right!

Never in my life that I ever got to witness a martial arts fight! Together with Clauds and DK, we had the chance to catch the Martial Combat at Resorts World™ Sentosa on June 17! Real blood and bruises, and that’s no child’s play. Nothing like your Ah Beng fights in Secondary Schools.

Touted as Asia’s Ultimate Mixed Martial Arts Fighting Championship, it features a total of 12 events, comprising 60 fights per year over 3 years and will feature some of the most popular and celebrated fighters from around the world.

These were the fighters what took part on the June 17 match, except for Do Won Seo who was replaced with Japanese-based American Isamu Himura at the last minute.

What left the most impression in me was the match between Muhsin Corbbrey and Wu Cheng Jie – The latter was in a very bad shape when the match ended – His face was full of bruises.

Next up on Martial Combat…

The upcoming 2 matches in July will be happening on 14 & 15 July and held at Resorts World™ Sentosaa Compass Ballroom. This time round they will be having female fighters and one of them is the current female world champion – Claire Haigh.
